Health 9

This course is a part of the health curriculum. Class involves examining many current real life issues that effect both the length and quality of our lives. It is designed for the student who is interested in learning more about their body and taking care of it properly.
Health 11-12
1 semester Elective Grades 11-12 1 credit
Prerequisite: None
This course is a part of the health curriculum offered to juniors and seniors. Like Skills for Living 9-10, it examines many real life issues. Topics include: personal health, wellness, stress management, drugs in society, CPR, and coping with loss.
HEALTH OCCUPATIONS
1 semester Elective Grade 11 1 credit
Prerequisite: Minimum "C" in Chemistry for first semester.
This course will explore a variety of health careers through the study of ethical/legal issues in medicine, health promotion and wellness, special procedures related to diagnostic testing, medical terminology, disabilities and discrimination, safety, job getting and job keeping skills. The students will become certified in CPR and learn basic first aid. The students will have shadowing experiences and field trips to better explore the different facets of the health professions.
