AGRICULTURE EDUCATION I
2 semesters Elective Grade 9 2 credits
Prerequisite: None
This course is designed for students who desire an introduction into the industry of agriculture and agribusiness. The main subject areas covered are leadership, conduct of meetings, FFA, SAE (project) records, carpentry and animal sciences and management including the areas of swine, and beef.
AGRICULTURE EDUCATION II
2 semesters Elective Grade 10 2 credits
This course studies a variety of subjects including soils, surveying, crop production, parliamentary procedure, welding and Agriculture Sales.
AGRICULTURE EDUCATION III
2 semesters Elective Grade 11 2 credits
This course starts with natural resources, a job interview unit and then moves into Agriculture Mechanics. Areas covered in mechanics include: concrete, structures, electricity and machinery mechanics.
AGRICULTURE EDUCATION IV
2 semesters Elective Grade 12 2 credits
This course covers marketing and management. In marketing the use of options, futures, forward contracting and market strategies are covered. Farm and Business Management covers budgeting, cash flows, financial statements and business organizations.
HORTICULTURE
1 semester Elective Grade 12 1 credit
Prerequisite: None
This course will cover the horticulture industry, growing medias, plant growth, flower arrangements, plant propagation, greenhouse management, landscaping, lawn management, vegetable gardening, tree identification and pruning. Most units in this class include hands-on outside activities.
