I.T. Club

 is sponsored by Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and several large corporate sponsors.  The site has
all the information you need to know about the mission of the program and the competition that takes place
 in April.  In 2011, it will be held April 29-30 (Friday and Saturday.)

    The Osage High School I.T. Club was formed in February 2009 due to student requests for a computer
 club.  We learn about robot design and programming, cyber defense of computer networks, and video
 game design.  In addition, as a part of the competition, we complete a community service project that
 focuses on the area of technology.
       

Iowa State provides:

  • Lego robots
  • ALICE game design software and instructions
  • Cyber defense DVD lessons

Osage Schools provide:

  • A substitute teacher for the one day the advisor is gone
  • A place for the club to meet

Students will pay for:

  • Club t-shirt (approx. $15)
  • 1/4 share of one night in a hotel in Ames for the competition (approx. $25)

Competition Venues:

Cyber Defense –defend your network system from hackers!

Robotics - Design and program a Lego Mindstorm robot to compete in a sumo battle.

Robotics 2 - Given a specific task, design and program a Lego Mindstorm robot to complete the task given.

Game Design - design an educational video game with the ALICE software.

Community Service Project - plan, perform, document, and present a community service project focused around information technology.

                   


Spots in each venue are open to a limited number of students. 

To get a spot on the team of your choice, contact Mrs. Brandau before all the spots are taken.

Spots will be given on the basis of club seniority, then first come, first serve.

Mrs. Brandau reserves the right to remove any team member not  doing their share of the work for the competition.

 Note:  If anyone knows of a corporation who would like to sponsor our I.T. Club, either by providing an educated I.T. specialist to assist our students, or with a monetary donations to offset the hotel expense for the competition, please give them Mrs. Brandau's contact information.  Thank you.
